Sleep Medicine
Sleep disorders can seriously affect healthy sleep and impact overall health. They can lead to memory loss, irritability and depression and affect job performance and relationships. Some sleep disorders may even be life-threatening due to increased risk of obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
The good news is that most sleep disorders can be managed and sometimes even corrected if properly diagnosed and treated.
Home Sleep Testing
Bluffton Regional Medical Center offers home-based sleep studies, which allow you to collect valuable data from the comfort of your own bed. The team can use this data to help determine the origin of your sleep disorder and take the next steps to help you get a better, safer night’s sleep.
Home sleep testing may be an option for initial sleep disorder evaluations and may be required by insurance before additional testing or treatment in a sleep center. If the home study produces a positive result for sleep apnea, an on-site sleep study may be necessary. On-site studies are referred to Lutheran Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center in Fort Wayne.
Ask your doctor if a home sleep test is right for you. For more information, please call (260) 919-3717.
